YOUR PROJECT, IN DETAIL
Artificial rockwork allows a feature to be shaped around a specific setting rather than selecting a finished boulder and working around it. Our rock features are sculpted and textured by hand, without moulds. We develop contours, fractures and surface detail to suggest natural stone, then consider how the colour and scale relate to the garden, building and surrounding hardscape.
Custom rockwork can take the form of a garden focal point, entrance feature, decorative wall or surround for an outdoor kitchen or fire feature. Planting pockets and lighting can be considered during design. The outdoor cooking and seating feature shown on this page is an example of our sculpting and detailing; the shape and purpose of your installation would be developed specifically for your property.
Photos, measurements and an explanation of what the rockwork needs to achieve are a useful starting point. A decorative garden feature has different requirements from a wall intended to retain soil or carry a load. We discuss access, foundations, drainage and any structural design needs before agreeing on the work. Waterfalls, grottos and pool rock features can also be explored through our dedicated Bedrock Poolscapes division.

Tell us what it needs to do. Retaining or load-bearing work requires a site-specific assessment and appropriate structural design; decorative rockwork is not a substitute for that design.
Reference photos of the existing stone help establish the direction. We discuss colour, texture and formation style, while recognising that a hand-finished surface will have its own variation.
Yes, we can discuss those details during design. Planning them early helps establish planting space, access and any electrical requirements.
